Evergreen Buyer Brokers of the Berkshires began life as Evergreen Realty in 1978. After 14 years of successful traditional real estate brokerage, Barbara Kolodkin and Deane Christopolis decided that buyer brokerage was the wave of the future. It provided them with the ethical structure they wanted for representing clients without conflict of interest. In 1992 the new Evergreen Buyer Brokers of the Berkshires was born.

ABOUT BARBARA KOLODKIN, GRI, MCBA
I have happily spent most of my life in the Berkshires. After graduating from Smith College and receiving a Masters Degree in Counseling, I became first a guidance counselor and then, for the past 26 years a Realtor.

In 1992 we changed Evergreen, which I co-founded, from a large traditional agency which represented sellers, to our current small agency which represents buyers exclusively. I'm proud to say we were the very first exclusive buyer agency in Berkshire County. I have been active for many years on the Board of the Massachusetts Association of Buyer Agents and am a Massachusetts Certified Buyer Agent (MCBA). I am also a Graduate Realtor (GRI) and a member of the National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents.

Although I am quite busy, I believe it is very important to volunteer in worthwhile activities. I currently work as a Guardian Ad Litem for children in the court system and am an active member of the committee which runs the annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life. Tanglewood, biking, hiking and other Berkshire cultural activities are some of my leisure time favorites.

ABOUT DEANE CHRISTOPOLIS
I have been fortunate to live in the Berkshires since 1959. After receiving an undergraduate degree in European History and a Masters Degree in Secondary Administration, I taught Advanced Placement European History and Advanced Placement Psychology. I coached track and cross-country, winning numerous championships. Eighteen years ago I began my real estate career thinking it would serve as a good "second job" allowing me to use my communicative skills to aid others in their pursuit of a residence in the Berkshires.

Real estate quickly captured my total interest and became a career. After 11 years of traditional real estate, I became in exclusive buyer broker and a member of Massachusetts Association of Buyer Agents (MABA) and National Association of Exclusive Buyer Agents (NAEBA). I enjoy being an exclusive buyer agent and being able to share my expertise in residential sales, land development, and the building of new homes with my clients.

In my spare time I enjoy gardening, music and fine food. Traveling throughout the Berkshires allows me the greatest of pleasures -- beautiful scenery, magnificent cultural attractions, and most importantly, people who appreciate the gifts that the Berkshires offer.
